Oktoberfest in Charlotte – A beer drinkers delight

The Charlotte Oktoberfest provides a great opportunity to make an impact on the local and surrounding communities with funds raised from its annual event.  Now in its 19th year of hosting the festival, the Carolina Brew Masters have donated over $600,000 to local charities, and look forward to continuing to donate to more local causes each consecutive year. This year they have partnered with the Bravo Alpha Foundation to run the event.

Its main objective is to promote NC beer — local, fresh, craft beer. Supporting the beer communities in the state and guiding the craft beer aficionados by providing the one source that allows access to the breweries, brewers and their beers wherever they are served, presented, and celebrated.

There is a smaller group of volunteers each year who poll the Carolina Beer Masters (CBM) membership for their favorite charities. The Charity Committee [who remains anonymous] then takes all recommendations and settles in for a grueling charity selection process. Each charity is scrutinized against various criteria and the final few charities then undergo in-person interviews. They appreciate all of our local charities but with so many great causes to choose from – the selection of WHO they support each year is a very in-depth and arduous process.

Luckily PPT Photography gets to participate in the beer mayhem that ensues in Charlotte every year.  After sampling so many of these delicious beers, our photos can get a bit blurry, but we have learned how to slow ourselves down and drink in moderation.  Maybe Pam and I will be able to slip away and become full participants at the true Oktoberfest in Germany next year.  Maybe we’ll see you there!
